History

Gospel congregation De Deur has been active in Arnhem since 1982. The church in Arnhem started as a small Bible study group from De Deur Zwolle. When the Bible study group in Arnhem grew, Bart and Wilma Kooijker were sent to establish the church in Arnhem. In 2018, Bart and Wilma Kooijker took over the work in the church of Guangzhou (China). Bert and Gerda Fledderus came to Arnhem to take over the work.

Where it started

Our Fellowship began in 1970 when Pastor Wayman Mitchell and his wife Nelda were offered a church in Prescott, Arizona (USA). At that time there was a great revival going on among hippies who called themselves ‘Jesus People’.

“Through their conversion to Jesus Christ, their hearts were changed and they were set free from drug addiction, emptiness, and aimlessness.”

They marched in their thousands through the streets of the United States telling everyone that they were born again. Their conversion to Jesus Christ changed their hearts and set them free from drug addiction, emptiness and purposelessness. Pastor Mitchell saw their potential and began making disciples and planting new churches.

Evangeliegemeente De Deur in Arnhem is part of a fast growing movement called Christian Fellowship Ministries (CFM). Worldwide there are now about 2700 churches in over 125 countries. In the Netherlands our churches are called ‘Evangeliegemeente De Deur’.
